Homes by Design

Constructing quality-built homes with detail and elegance has been what Homes By Deign has done here, in the Big Country, for years. Jon is a second-generation builder growing up on construction sites with his father and working on construction crews in high school and college. Upon graduating from Stephenville High School, Jon attended Hardin-Simmons University where he was a two-time All-Conference Defensive Back for the Cowboys. Jon spent the next 15 coaching college and high school football around the State of Texas before choosing to invest his time in the family business and community.

Jon served two terms as President of the Big Country Home Builders Association in 2018 and 2019. He was named Builder of the Year in 2018 and also Association of the Year. Jon and his homes have been featured in Abilene Scene Magazine and on the Builder of Excellence TV Series. The Homes By Design team consists of Jon and his wife Miller who works as the design coordinator. They are a full design/build operation utilizing 3D imagery to create visual selections and reduce customer stress and time.

Jon is also a developing partner with West Texas Land Guys-Abilene where Jon and his team are in the process of bringing Water Crest Ranch to north Abilene. The new development will be located off FM600 and will feature single family and multi-family units.

Jon and his family believe that being involved and giving back is one way they can show their gratitude to this amazing community. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors for the BCHBA, Jon also serves on the leadership board at Wylie Methodist Church, is a baseball coach for Wylie Little League, serves on the Board of Adjustments, is head of the Dude Crew, and advisor/past chair of the Cattle Barons Ball.

Jon and Miller have three children Annalise (13), Catelee (12) and Rylan (9) who are involved in school activities and sports. Miller serves on the Wylie School Board as well as the Advisory board for Cattle Barons Ball. The family enjoys spending time together, traveling, and being outdoors.
